DAY 1: 7 Days of Self Care

“Me time”; “time out”; “self care”; “a moment to yourself” – whatever you call it, over the next 7 days I’m going to share with you my 7 Days of Self Care to bust the myths around “self care” and encourage the notion to be more mainstream; an essential – critical – part of being human. And you can join me in this as part of a new project I’m launching called ‘human’.

Our physical, mental and emotional well-being depend on us, individually, to care for ourselves. And as a species we’re shockingly bad at it. Each day I’m going to share with you my own “me time” moments for inspiration. They are real, not just for social media. It’s an insight into my life as a human.

If you enjoyed them, make them part of your own daily routine. Here’s the thing: we all have the same amount of time. So don’t tell me you don’t have time: you will find it. I’ve incorporated these into my daily routines because they are important, and none of them feel like chores. They’re part of what I do now.

So, big deep breath, get your adult pants on (or take them off, whatever works for you), and join me every day for celebrating being human and how we can all start 2021 with being happier.

DAY 1. A MOMENT FOR YOU
Every morning as part of my morning routine when I first wake up, I read a chapter of the book I’m currently reading. Sometimes it’s just 10 or 15 minutes; the time it takes to drink my tea and wake up. If I’ve more time I might read a whole chapter. Currently I’m reading the mind-blowing and eye-opening Chasing the Scream by Johann Hari (I recommended his other book Lost Connections on the podcast in Series 1).
