FUTURE.

Hello dear reader - happy Wednesday.

I'm not a big fan of 5 and 10 year plans.

Future planning into the distance can be reassuring; it gives us something clear to aim for and motivates us initially - and forward planning is understandably useful commercially.

However, it doesn't help change behaviour.

We need more regular reinforcement to help see tangible changes, but more importantly, focusing on something way into the distances causes us to miss much of what is happening right now.

Life happens in moments, and when we're distracted by a 5 year plan, for example, we are distracted from the many opportunities that present every day to help positively change behaviour.

2, 5, 10 year plans are useful. But daily and weekly focuses are key to seeing positive behaviour change - and the only way we achieve the long-term plan.

I was interviewed by Nick Gold, the President of the International Association of Speaker Bureaus, about my thoughts on how simple it is to change our behaviour and why we don't do it; what really happened at my farm that changed someone's life; why the reoffending rate is so high and what it tells us about how we need to approach our own lives differently.

See you next week,

Jez

PS. It's my Birthday this month (March 29th if you're unsure, but please no gifts over £500), so expect some freebies and exciting bits to celebrate with me coming to you over the next couple of weeks. 🎈
