Barclays Partner with Jez Rose for Regional Workshops

Bringing internal values alive

Jez often says that some of the most effective training events he is involved in are collaborations between organisations where they recognise the power in developing together. Jez has worked with various departments of Legal & General for a number of years now and this special series of workshops saw L&G team up with one of their customers, Barclays, for specialist training in conflict management and leadership.

Jez hosted the special day-long meetings that saw employees from mortgage protection teams across England attending workshops in London and Manchester to hear from internal speakers from both organisations, a keynote presentation about leadership delivered by Jez and an afternoon of a specially devised interactive workshop to upskill in conflict management.

Jez can often be seen hosting or speaking at conferences with upwards of 1,000 delegates in huge conference centres and arenas pretty much all over the world and it is often those events which attract the most interest, which is understandable: they’re big, bold, and bright. However, much of Jez’s work as a consulting Behaviour Insight Advisor and workshop facilitator is conducted in smaller meeting rooms and with a hundred or less delegates. Jez has told this story many times before, but he accidentally got into speaking as a profession. His first drive of wanting to teach people came while suffering through a terrible training session while working for the NHS in England. Jez says: “I knew then that such important training should be more engaging, more interesting - and a lot less patronising. It was no wonder so many people skipped it. I vowed that day to create a training workshop that was interactive and enjoyable to be a part of so that vicariously you remembered more of it.”

Which is why when Barclays and Legal & General contacted Jez to create a workshop for them, Jez’s first thought was using beach balls to capture information; a client favourite of more than 10 years and requested more than any other activity Jez runs! Using beach balls, Jez helped bring the Barclays values to life and ensure everyone left with tangible skills and techniques to better manage conflict, feel more confident in their leadership roles, and understand how using brain science can maximise leadership efficacy.

Regional Director of Mortgages at Barclays confirmed the success of the events: “I’m blown away with what you’ve helped the team think about.”
